Google is set to file for bankruptcy protection after paying $1 billion in a restructuring agreement with the U.S. Department of Labor.
The $1,272 billion deal, announced Monday, was reached after Google agreed to buy out two rival staffing agencies, EO and SEO.
Google, which makes Google Search, will be renamed as SEO, the company said in a statement.
The acquisition of EO, a staffing agency that previously employed hundreds of thousands of people at Google, will help the company “improve the company’s productivity and efficiency,” Google said in the statement.
Google said the two new companies will be called SEO Agency and SEOP.
The deal was first reported by The Wall Street Journal.
