When does the Korean giant take the next step in their VR headset lineup?
Posted September 09, 2019 14:15:47We don’t think we’re in the market for a new headset from Samsung.
The Korean company has always been focused on the consumer market, but the company recently announced the release of a VR headset, the Gear VR.
It looks like Samsung is getting serious about this market.
The company is currently developing its own VR headset for the Oculus Rift and its upcoming Project Morpheus virtual reality headset.
The company is already showing off a prototype, and is rumored to have a headset in the works for the HTC Vive and the PlayStation VR.
But that’s not the only VR headset Samsung is working on right now.
The firm also has a VR game for the PlayStation Vita called “The Journey.”
The company also announced a VR title for the upcoming PlayStation VR, “Tron: Legacy.”
It looks a lot like the Rift and Morpheus games, but it also looks more like a platformer with more complex controls.
The VR game will be released this fall, and it is scheduled to launch on September 27th.
The VR headset is still the least exciting of Samsung’s VR lineup, and its just not something that the consumer will buy yet.
But the company does have a lot of VR games planned.
According to Polygon, the company is working with Sony on a new title, “Project: M.”
The project is rumored for a fall release.
If you’ve got an Oculus Rift, Samsung is also developing an upcoming PS VR game called “Toon.”
It’s unclear if the PS VR title will be similar to the Samsung project, or if Samsung will just rebrand it as a PSVR title, like the Oculus VR title.
Either way, Samsung has been a VR darling for years.
Samsung also makes a headset called “Oculus Touch,” which was recently released to the public.
